Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of decaf.top. By loading any page on the site you agree to them; if you do not agree, please stop using the site. We may change these terms at any time, and the version published on this page is the one that applies.

What this site is

Decaf is a free, general-purpose reference glossary of coffee and tea vocabulary, published in English and Chinese. It is informational only. Nothing here is professional, medical, nutritional, commercial or safety advice, and it is not a substitute for the manufacturer's instructions that came with your equipment. If you are brewing commercially, managing allergens, or operating equipment under warranty, follow the documentation supplied with it and any rules that apply to your business.

You may read, link to, quote and cite these entries freely for personal, educational, journalistic and non-commercial purposes, provided you credit Decaf and link back to the page you used where practical. You may not republish entries wholesale, mirror the glossary, feed it into a competing reference product, or sell access to it. Systematic scraping that degrades the service for other readers is not permitted.

Accuracy, and the limits of a glossary

Coffee and tea vocabulary is not settled. Traders, roasters, producers and regions use the same word for different things, and several entries here describe a disagreement rather than resolving it. Entries are written in good faith, reviewed before publication, and checked against sources we consider reliable, but we make no warranty that any entry is accurate, complete, current, or matches the usage in your region or trade. Product and equipment references are illustrative, not endorsements.

We may add, rewrite, reorder or remove entries at any time, including entries that were previously published. Where we get something wrong, we would rather hear about it than not — corrections sent to [email protected] are welcome and are usually acted on quickly.

Advertising and third-party content

The site is supported by advertising, served by Google AdSense and other third parties. Advertisements are selected by those vendors, not by us, and an ad appearing next to an entry does not mean we recommend or have verified the advertiser, its products or its claims. Links to third-party sites are provided for reference; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Your dealings with any advertiser or linked site are between you and them.

Intellectual property

The text of the glossary, the site design and the code that serves it belong to Decaf and its authors and are protected by copyright. Third-party names, trademarks and product names mentioned in entries remain the property of their owners and are used descriptively. If you believe something on this site infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with details and we will look at it promptly.

Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, and we may suspend or discontinue it at any time without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Decaf and its authors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or equipment, arising out of or connected with your use of the site or your reliance on anything published on it — including a ruined brew, a damaged grinder, or a decision taken on the basis of an entry. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use the site, which is nothing.

Changes, governing terms and contact

We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page; a revision takes effect when it is published, and continued use of the site after that constitutes acceptance. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer law in your country of residence. Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
